Student Achievement Recognised
An ex pupil of Fazakerley High School has recently had his commitment to engineering recognised by the UK’s Engineering Employers Federation. Shaun Hughes received the award for North West’s Young Student of the Year at Salford City Stadium.
Shaun studied the higher level engineering diploma at Fazakerley High School Specialist Engineering College between 2010 and 2012. This was also coupled with a Young Apprenticeship which he completed at Scottish Power’s training centre in Hoylake.
Scottish Power were so impressed with Shaun that following the completion of his Young Apprenticeship and school studies, he was offered a place on their apprenticeship scheme and is training to become a jointer and overhead linesman. He beat off competition from thousands of other applicants from all over the UK and is already achieving A* and A grades in his apprenticeship studies.
The EEF award is awarded to the young engineering student who has benefited the most from completing their Engineering Young Apprenticeship programme and whose achievements have allowed them to map out and embark on a career path within the engineering and manufacturing sectors.
Fazakerley High School and the local community are very proud of Shaun’s achievements and wish him every success in the future.
