Read on with Readathon
As part of our ongoing efforts to encourage an ethos of reading for pleasure in our school we are taking part in a READATHON!
This is a sponsored reading event that encourages pupils to read for pleasure. Pupils take a sponsor card and set themselves a reading target (e.g. to read 5 books or 100 pages in 2 weeks.) They then collect sponsors and if they complete their challenge they collect their money which goes to two charities: CLIC Sargent which provides vital support to children and young people with cancer and Roald Dahls Marvellous Childrens Charity which helps seriously ill and disabled children.
On receipt of the schools sponsorship money, we will receive a certificate and a free books voucher worth 20% of the total raised so we will be able to continue to enjoy reading. We held our Readathon in March and at time of going to print, pupils were successfully collecting in all their sponsorship money—look out for the total we raised for these two good causes in our next issue of Fazak News.
