BTEC hospitality students had a special visitor in their lessons recently; Lucy Nicholson is an entrepreneur, a restaurateur but most importantly, a great cook. Lucy's businesses were established in 1989 through her love of food and people, and have gradually grown into all that they are today - a combination of cafe and restaurant, outside catering and cookery school, all located in the Lake District.
Lucy gave a useful insight into the catering and hospitality industry and provided students with knowledge, enthusiasm and practical skills for them to take away to prepare them for this competitive industry. During the practical workshop the pupils were shown various tricks of the trade and a number of ideas for canapés. The pupils utilised their newly acquired skills when they were responsible for the catering at our Awards Evening. The canapés received great feedback, which is a testament to the pupils' enthusiasm and the knowledge and skills passed on to them by Lucy.
