A team of year 10 pupils recently attended an interactive and educational 2 day Hackathon organised by RISE, iamtheCODE and Liverpool City Council.
The event was designed to provide an insight into the world of technology and to provide pupils with skills in coding. Pupils worked in teams to design a solution to an issue relating to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Pupils had the opportunity to meet with professional mentors experienced in coding and working in groups they were provided with resources enabling them to build their own computer and to use this to develop their solution which they then presented to a panel of judges.
Our pupils worked hard on their tasks throughout the event and strengthened a whole range of vital skills including: Team working, communication, presentation and creativity.
The teams came up with some fantastic ideas that included; a global food bank, a mental health app and a school sport app.
Pupils were presented with a certificate by Lord of Mayor of Liverpool Anna Rothery.
