On Wednesday 29th January, a group of Year 10 pupils visited the University of Liverpool to take part in a Film and Culture Event; an event designed to promote studying a Modern Foreign Language at University. At the event, the pupils participated in 4 sessions: a career talk outlining the benefits of studying a language, an interactive film session and taster sessions for both Mandarin and Italian.
The students were all very much involved throughout the day and engaged fully with all the activities on offer. In particular, they enjoyed learning new languages and now have a better appreciation of how the ability to communicate in a different language (just communicate, not necessarily being fluent!) could change their lives.
