As part of the Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education programme (PSHE) the school is always looking for ways to broaden our pupils' horizons and it was for this reason the PSHE Coordinator, Mr Topping, used his connections to invite MOBO winner, Esco Williams to come into school to sing and talk to our Years 9, 10 and 11 students on the themes of Equality and Diversity.
Esco is a member of choir of the year, Sense of Sound; a youth facilitator and a singer/songwriter. He has opened for RZA, Dead Prez and Sugababes, and has been playlisted on 1Xtra, FLAVA TV and AKA - and he was placed in the Top 20 of MTV's Brand New for 2012.
Esco, who hails from Bootle originally, was a power house of energy and captivated his audiences all day. He was both entertaining and challenging; he spoke eloquently and candidly about his experiences and thoroughly enjoyed engaging with our students who declared the event a huge success and were thrilled with the free CDs and T-shirts that were handed out. The event was sponsored by Cobalt Housing to whom the school is very grateful.
