Former Students

John Gardner

We are always so pleased when former pupils visit us or let us know about their successes. So you can imagine our delight to hear about former pupil, John Gardner, who left us 4 years ago and who has just been awarded a First Class Bachelor of Arts Honours Degree in IMedia (Interactive Media Design) from JMU. After an intensive final year, John plans to relax over the summer before embarking on his Masters or a PGCE teaching course. We are so proud of you, John!

Michael Cain and Kyle O'Brien

Michael Cain and Kyle O'Brien who left us last year recently popped in to say 'Hello.' Kyle has been training with Barclays Bank and was named one of the top apprentices in the UK this year. Kyle loves his placement and plans to continue working for the bank when he completes his training. Michael has just completed his first year at John Moores University where he is doing a degree in Media, Music and Sound. Michael said the work is "ten times harder than A Levels" but he is really enjoying it and said it has confirmed that he will definitely look for a career in the Media.

Katy Pickersgill

Another past FHS student, Katy Pickersgill has been in school one day a week during the Spring term, doing a placement in the English and Drama Departments.

Katy left us in 2007 to attend Stage School where she studied dance, drama and singing. She taught Dance for a while and then spent a few years travelling and working abroad. She worked in Disneyland Paris as an entertainer and member of a street crew dance troupe; she was an entertainer on cruise ships and was in a touring show in the Canaries.

Now home in Liverpool, Katy is at JMU studying English and Drama and is planning on a career in teaching.

She thoroughly enjoyed her time at FHS but found it a "bit surreal" to be on the "other side" as a member of staff! She was very impressed by our school and the behavior and work ethic of our students. We wish her well.Another past FHS student, Katy Pickersgill has been in school one day a week during the Spring term, doing a placement in the English and Drama Departments. Louise McWilliam

Louise McWilliam is just finishing her first year at Liverpool University where she is studying Psychology.

As part of her course she has had to do a placement in a place of work and she recently chose to come back to school where she has spent time in various departments. She enjoyed observing in the Student Support Centre; talking to the Intervention team; sitting in on a 6th Form Psychology lesson and revisiting Textiles where she was one of our star pupils such a short time ago.

Louise also took the opportunity to talk to 6th formers and Year 10 students about their university prospects and was able to talk about her own experiences.

When she completes the long 7 year course, Louise's dream is to become a Clinical Psychologist, focussing on the difficult areas of OCD and Depression in teens and adults. At present, in university, she is carrying out research into FMRIS which gauges the oxygen levels in the brain...heady stuff! Louise found it "weird" to be in school as a member of staff and says she now appreciates how hard teachers REALLY work! We feel sure that Louise will achieve her goal and we look forward to hearing of her continuing success!

Dean Wakefield

Many people will remember Dean Wakefield who regularly danced in our school shows. Dean went on to Liverpool Theatre School where he has just successfully completed his Foundation Year in Musical Theatre. As well as dancing, Dean has studied acting and singing and, if you'll pardon the pun, has come on in leaps and bounds! He has been accepted for the 3 year course at the school after which he hopes to eventually tread the boards in the West End; maybe we'll see him on Broadway one day!
