Our Career Academies students were out and about again at the end of February. On this occasion they visited international engineering company AMEC’s base in Ellesmere Port.
AMEC employ over 29,000 people worldwide – ranging from scientists and environmental consultants to engineers and project managers, all dedicated professionals who take pride in their work.
Their goal is to deliver sustainable projects and services for customers in the oil, gas, mining and clean energy markets. Their customers are among the world’s biggest and best in their fields - BP, Shell, EDF, National Grid and the U.S. Navy to name just a few.
At the Ellesmere Port base, tanks are designed and manufactured to store oil in.
Our students were greeted by a whole host of staff and during the day learnt about a wide variety of topics including stock market companies, what shares in companies are and how they're bought and sold, details about the Manchester ship canal that runs alongside the site, quality control around the world, financial risk as well as the career opportunities AMEC offer.
The school would like to take this opportunity to thank Ian McKay, Director of Support Services at the Ellesmere Port site for arranging the day and for the company’s hospitality.
