Our Career Academies sixth form students went on their first industrial visit to Liverpool John Moores University recently to take part in a Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) day. It was a fantastic day where pupils got firsthand experience of life at university.
Our students received an overview of how to get into university which included how to write personal statements, what courses they could be studying and the information about the UCAS process.
Student advocates then spoke about university life from their perspective. They discussed the fun aspects of living in halls of residence, accessing libraries 24/7, societies and clubs that exist and of course the elaborate nightlife!
After that, pupils were then split into two groups. One group went to learn about the university’s Formula 1 kit cars and even got to experience the advanced simulator and the other group went on an exciting treasure hunt around Liverpool One following various clues to take them to a final meeting point.
Both students and staff had a wonderful day and the school look forward to reporting back on their future experiences.
