Fazakerley High School Olympics
Houses went head to head for an alternative version of sports day which had to take part inside because of the weather at the end of the summer term! Forms spent the mornings preparing to support their houses, and discovered the influences different countries have had on the Olympics since they began back in Greece. Year groups were called down one by one to compete in indoor athletics events including sprinting and field events such as javelin, shot put and high jump. There was a fantastic atmosphere in the Sports Centre all day as forms cheered in support of their house representatives in each event, especially when Year 8 competitors Adam Sullivan, Jack Lloyd and Viktors Lepetilo went head to head in the high jump.
It was a tense finish, Viktors was knocked out first, and the bar was raised for Adam and Jack as they continued in front of the roaring crowd, Jack missed and the crowd helped Adam to a flying finish as he cleared the bar with room to spare. The sportsmanship witnessed by all those who competed on the day was amazing, and helped to round off a fantastic Fazakerley Olympic Sports Day 2012.
