Engineering Specialists Talk to Students

Global engineering company Arup have provided our engineers with an in depth look at real life engineering projects. The company is an independent firm of designers, planners, engineers, consultants and technical specialists. They have worked on many famous projects located across the world including The Second Avenue Subway, a new subway system in New York; High Speed 1, the rail link that joins London to the Channel Tunnel and Valencia's stadium, a 240million Euro stadium which seats 75,000 spectators. Greg Beattie (Associate Director) and David Almond (Graduate Engineer) both work from Arup's Liverpool base.

They very kindly agreed to deliver a range of talks to our Year 10 and Year 11 engineers over a number of weeks. Pupils learned about what inspires engineering designs, what tests engineers carry out before manufacture, how they evaluate different ideas as well as more general information about various engineering careers and pathways which leadto those careers. We look forward to welcoming more of Arup's engineers to assist with our annual engineering week in June....watch this space!
