Textiles Students Take Their Driving Test!
Students studying Year 9 Textiles had to prove they were up to the high standards required to use the sewing machines unassisted recently.
After a series of practice exercises which helped build up pupils’ confidence, they had to demonstrate they were ready to be let loose by passing the Sewing Machine Driving Test.
The test requires pupils to navigate the sewing machine’s needle through an array of challenges which shows they can sew accurately and change direction when required.
Bethany Roberts was first to volunteer to take the test and with Mrs Byrne’s watchful eyes on her she successfully passed first time.
The class’s next project is to design and manufacture a wash bag inspired by Kath Kidston’s patterns.
